13th SNSS Annual Meeting with international participation: Spine Neurosurgery 2027 - From Innovation to Impact

When
2027-09-08 - 2027-09-12

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 13th SNSS Annual Meeting with International Participation: Spine Neurosurgery 2027 – From Innovation to Impact, taking place September 8–12, 2027, in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia. Save the date!

This year’s theme, From Innovation to Impact, reflects one of the central challenges in contemporary spine neurosurgery: how to translate scientific advances, technological innovation, and new surgical concepts into meaningful improvements in everyday clinical practice and, ultimately, better outcomes for our patients.

Spine neurosurgery is evolving rapidly. Advances in surgical techniques, imaging, navigation and robotics, minimally invasive approaches, biomaterials, artificial intelligence, and personalized treatment are continuously expanding what is possible. Yet innovation reaches its true value only when it can be critically evaluated, responsibly implemented, and transformed into tangible clinical benefit.

The 13th SNSS Annual Meeting will bring together distinguished international and regional experts, experienced clinicians, researchers, and young neurosurgeons to exchange knowledge, discuss current challenges, and explore the future of spine neurosurgery. Through expert lectures, case-based discussions, debates, and practical sessions, the scientific program will provide a dynamic forum for sharing experience and examining how emerging concepts and technologies can make a real difference in patient care.

Beyond the scientific program, the meeting will offer an important opportunity to strengthen professional connections, develop new collaborations, and continue building an international community committed to advancing spine neurosurgery. We particularly look forward to the exchange of ideas between different generations, institutions, and surgical traditions.

We warmly invite you to join us for Spine Neurosurgery 2027 – From Innovation to Impact, to share your knowledge and experience, challenge established approaches, explore new possibilities, and contribute to shaping the future of our field.

We look forward to welcoming you in 2027!

Cordially,

Prof. Dr. Lukas Rasulic
SNSS President, Honorary President of the Meeting

Dear Professor Rasulic,
Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC), it is my great pleasure to extend our warmest greetings to the Serbian Neurosurgical Society and all participants of Spine Neurosurgery 2027 – From Innovation to Impact in Vrnjačka Banja.

Spine surgery has become an increasingly important part of modern neurosurgical practice. It brings together our understanding of neural function, spinal biomechanics, advanced surgical techniques and the responsibility to achieve meaningful improvements in our patients' lives. At the same time, it is a field in which technological innovation, clinical experience and interdisciplinary collaboration must continuously inform one another.

For the DGNC, strengthening spine surgery within neurosurgery is an important priority. We are committed to advancing surgical education, supporting clinical research and ensuring that the next generation of neurosurgeons develops the skills and judgment required to provide excellent spinal care.

We therefore particularly welcome the opportunity to collaborate with our Serbian colleagues. Scientific exchange across national borders allows us to learn from different clinical experiences, discuss challenging questions and build professional relationships that extend well beyond individual meetings.

I would like to thank Professor Rasulic and the Serbian Neurosurgical Society for their initiative and their kind invitation to involve the DGNC. We are very pleased to participate in this meeting and look forward to a productive exchange between our societies.

I wish all participants an inspiring and successful congress.

Prof. Dr. med. Peter Vajkoczy
President, German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC)
Director, Department of Neurosurgery, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin

This meeting represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) Spine Section and the Serbian Neurosurgical Society (SNSS), reinforcing scientific exchange, professional networking, and the sharing of knowledge and experience in the rapidly evolving field of spine neurosurgery.

We highly value our collaboration with the SNSS and believe that close cooperation between our societies is essential to advancing clinical practice, promoting innovation, and improving outcomes for patients with spinal disorders. By bringing together experts from across Europe and beyond, this congress will provide a valuable platform to discuss the latest developments, exchange perspectives, and explore new opportunities for international collaboration.

The EANS Spine Section panel members are very much looking forward to meeting their Serbian colleagues and the wider international neurosurgical community in Vrnjačka Banja. We are delighted to contribute to this important scientific event and to further strengthen the bonds between our societies through shared expertise, dialogue, and a common commitment to excellence in spine care.

We look forward to an inspiring and successful meeting in Serbia!

Prof. Enrico Tessitore,

Chair EANS Spine Section

Dear Colleagues, Distinguished Guests, and Friends,

On behalf of the World Association of Lebanese Neurosurgeons (WALN), it is my great pleasure and honor to extend our warmest greetings to the Serbian Neurosurgical Society (SNSS), its leadership, and all participants attending the 13th SNSS Annual Meeting with International Participation.

We are particularly delighted to join this prestigious scientific gathering as a partner society, marking an important milestone in strengthening the bonds of friendship, scientific exchange, and professional collaboration between the Serbian and Lebanese neurosurgical communities.

The theme of this year's meeting, "Spine Neurosurgery 2027 – From Innovation to Impact," reflects one of the most important challenges facing modern neurosurgery: translating scientific discoveries, technological advancements, and innovative surgical techniques into tangible improvements in patient care and clinical outcomes.

Neurosurgery has always been a discipline driven by innovation, precision, and a continuous commitment to excellence. Yet, the true measure of our progress lies not merely in the sophistication of our technologies, but in their ability to improve the lives of the patients we serve. This meeting offers an exceptional opportunity to exchange knowledge, challenge established practices, explore emerging technologies, and shape the future of spine neurosurgery.

The World Association of Lebanese Neurosurgeons represents a global community of Lebanese neurosurgeons whose contributions span continents, institutions, and generations. Although geographically dispersed, we remain united by our shared heritage, professional values, and dedication to advancing neurosurgical education, research, and clinical practice. Through international partnerships such as this one, we seek to build bridges between neurosurgical communities, encourage meaningful scientific collaborations, and create opportunities for the next generation of neurosurgeons.

Our participation in the 13th SNSS Annual Meeting is a reflection of this mission. We look forward to contributing to the scientific program, sharing the expertise and experiences of our members, and fostering lasting relationships with our Serbian colleagues and the broader international neurosurgical community.

I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the leadership and organizing committee of the Serbian Neurosurgical Society for their gracious invitation, outstanding efforts, and vision in bringing together the international neurosurgical community. Their dedication to scientific excellence and international cooperation is truly commendable.

To all participants, I wish you a stimulating and productive scientific meeting, enriched by thoughtful discussions, new friendships, and opportunities for future collaboration.

May this meeting not only advance the science and practice of spine neurosurgery, but also strengthen the bridges of friendship and cooperation that unite neurosurgeons across the world.

I look forward to welcoming you to this exceptional gathering in the beautiful setting of Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia.

With warmest regards and best wishes for a successful meeting,

Ali Alaraj, MD, MHA, FACS, FAHA

President, World Association of Lebanese Neurosurgeons (WALN)
